Founding partner of Vertex. With over 25 years of experience in the oil and gas service industry. Prior to joining Vertex as CEO, Craig held senior management roles with various private oil and gas service companines. Craig has a Bachelor of Science from Western University and is a member of the Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada.

Jason Phenes

Managing Partner

Founding partner of Vertex. Jason has been an integral part of the company since its inception. He brings over 25 years of oil and gas experience to the team. Prior to founding Vertex, Jason co-owned and managed several successful drilling motor companies, as well as a Measurement While Drilling (MWD) rental and sales division serving the Western Hemisphere.

Carl Brown

Chief Technical Officer

Founding partner of Vertex. With over 27 years of experience in software development, including the past 14 years focused exclusively on the oil and gas sector. Prior to founding Vertex in 2011, Carl worked with Bluestar Tools and Sondex / GE Energy. His experience includes developing embedded firmware for the Bluestar MWD tool, a telemetry receiver DSP decoding system, and PC software for the BS Term surface system.

Kevin Fuller

Business Development

Kevin joined the Vertex team in 2024. Kevin brings a diverse background in the energy industry spanning over 3 decades. Previously Kevin has been in managerial roles in MWD operations, sales and Manufacturing. Kevin has also been a manager of drilling operations and is active in exploration and production within Canada.

Josh Campbell

Senior Mechanical Engineer,

P. Eng

Josh joined the Vertex Team in 2024. His strong mechanical engineering technical background and project management skills enable him to lead cross-functional teams effectively. With 15 years of R&D experience designing drilling tools from concept to production we are excited to see what innovative MWD solutions come up next.
